Bicycle Depot and Trails Around New Paltz

Hurricane Irene left New York with many different experiences and levels of destruction. Many of us here in New Paltz were without power for days and have dealt with flooded roadways for weeks. Thankfully the flooding in our area has finally receded and all major roads are open. Some in our area fared much worse, loosing their homes or businesses. For them, this disaster is not over.

We are very lucky to have had no storm damage or flooding to the shop. All of our staff are ok and everyone was back at work the next day. We can also report that most of the trails up on the Shawangunk Ridge are open and in pretty decent shape. Minnewaska State Park did not fare as well and their trails are currently closed to cyclists. Although it is a shame that people can’t ride at the State Park right now, we are fortunate to have the folks at the Mohonk Preserve who do such a great job on their trails always. If you haven’t ridden on their trails yet, now is a great time to go check them out.

We encourage everyone to come spend time in New Paltz this fall, enjoy our trails and visit our area. New Paltz and the Bicycle Depot are open for business.
